Most clients report that cupping therapy is not painful. While the cups create a suction effect on your skin, most people describe the sensation as a light pulling or lifting feeling. The intensity can always be adjusted based on your comfort level, ensuring that your experience is soothing rather than uncomfortable.
Some areas of the body may feel a bit more sensitive than others, especially if there’s built-up tension or muscle tightness. However, the suction eases as your body relaxes, and many people find the process profoundly calming. In fact, some clients even doze off during their sessions!
After your session, you might notice faint circular marks on your skin, which is a completely normal response to cupping and a sign that your circulation has been activated. These marks form as blood flow increases and stagnant energy is released from the treated areas. Unlike bruises, they don’t come from impact or trauma, and they typically fade within a few days. Most people experience no discomfort from them, and many even see them as a sign that their body is responding well to the therapy.
